Description:

This mini project simulates the working of an airline reservation system. The passenger can access the software to do all the basic reservation jobs including checking the availability of a flight and book his/her ticket accordingly. The uniqueness of this software is that the passenger can book his/her favorite seat based on the availability of seats in a particular flight.

• Project Title: ConTusa

Description:

ConTusa  is used to control your computer while you are away from it, by sending text messages or IM. It uses the twitter service API (http://www.twitter.com) to send a message to this software which executes preconfigured command on the system. This software is released under the General Public License (GPL). A detailed article on ConTusa has been published on the popular open source magazine ‘Linux For You’, September 2008. Also Softpedia.com included this product into their Mac OS software database (http://mac.softpedia.com/get/Utilities/contusa.shtml )

• Project Title: HCL Chat System  (A.R.S.)

Duration: 3 months

Role: Co Developer

Solutions Used: AWT, Swing and Java Networking, MySql

Description:

This project was done in collaboration with HCL Infosystems Ltd, Kolkata. The aim of the project is to provide HCL’s Technical Support Team with an IM solution which helps them to connect and provide technical support. The software contains all the basic features of a modern IM, specially crafted for HCL.

My Lab is Booooring….

Well there I am sitting in my lab doing, as u might already have guessed it out, NOTHING. So whats the interesting part of my lab… why I am still there? There are basically two good explanations that I have. read on…

1. First of all I need to maintain a minimum of 75% attendence in the classes, otherewise they will not allow me to sit for the exam (of which most is my self made stories).
2. The second point is my favourite. guess what- I can surf freely for 3 hrs. without any disturbance. Now who would not want this. Especially when there is a drought of good bandwidth in INDIA ( although it is considered to be one of the leaders in IT industry), surfing is really fun u see. And that also using a dedicated leased line of 2 MBPS- thats rocking man. Isn’t it

Now now… u might be wondering “why? dont you have lab assisstence to assist you, dont you have teachers?” – Ys Sir, we do. But they are also as confused as us ( or sometimes even more). They are simply there to tell you which ftp site to look for the questions but they never has the answers (not even a proper idea how to approach to the problem), they are there to sign our lab records (without even bothering what is there inside)!! Yeah VIT is like that only… I mean I tell you right now what the two person are doing namely, Madhu Vishwanathan and Nalini (I dont know miss or mrs)- one is busy with her attendance inputs othere one… OMG, I just checked, he is not even inside the class ! So this is basically the everyday routine in VIT. How can you expect the MCA people to excel. At least I dont see a way out until management does something to this basic problem. And this is not the only case, the same sh*t happens in all the labs ( at least most of them) in VIT.

Truly it is so Booooring….

Wippe! I’m Pressed….

Well here I am guys… this is my first entry in my blog. However technically speaking this is not the first one… check out my other blog here. Although it was started during my bachelors way back in 2001. But I dont maintain it these days. I appreciate the help from my friend Kartic and his room mates [ they help me with the internet and the dinner ]. In this blog i’m going to maintain both technical and non-technical posts… so fasten your seat belts…

Btw, I am arin ghosh from VIT, Vellore Instiitute of Technology, Vellore. I am a final year mca student in this college. My native is asansol in west bengal, India. More about me as time goes by. For the time being thats all.
